Chemistry Program records, 1914-1960.

The collection consists primarily of files created and/or accrued by chemistry faculty at Norwich University during the period, 1914-1960. Many of the files were accrued by Samuel Francis Howard (1872-1963) during his time as head of the chemistry department. Dr. Howard became head of the chemistry department in 1913 and remained a member of the faculty until his retirement in 1946. A content listing of files can be found in the finding aid.

Unit 3900 of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) was established by the War Department at Oregon State College in March 1943. The program provided training for high grade technicians and specialists needed by the Army for the war effort. Most of the instruction was provided by regular Oregon State College faculty; E.B.
